David Roy Akers was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on December 9, 1974. In his school life, he went to Tates Creek High School (TCHS) in Lexington, Kentucky. He finished his college life at the University of Louisville (UofL) in Louisville, Kentucky.
David Akers NFL Teams and Contract History
At the beginning of his professional career, he spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers as free agents from 1997 to 1998. In the same year, he became a player for the Washington Redskins, and after playing for a few games, he did not play more with this team. In the next year, he played for the NFL Europe team, Berlin Thunder (in 1999).
He signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles this year and remained with them until 2010. With the wearing of the jersey of the Eagles, he began to show his talent and make new records. In 2002, he made 30 of 34 field goals, scoring 133 points and making the Pro Bowl. In 2004, he continued his smooth play with an 84.4% field goal percentage with the honor of his third Pro Bowl. Injuries marred his 2005 and 2006 seasons, and his 2007 season did not go as planned. In 2007, he became a witness to many of his teams’ wins. He made 33 of 40 field goals in 2008. For the fifth time, he became a Pro Bowler.
In 2011, he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers and played for them from 2011–2012. He played with the Detroit Lions in 2013.
