He was a player for the Oakland Raiders in the 2010–2011 seasons. He made 58 tackles during the regular season in 2010.

From 2012 to 2014, he was a player for the Tennessee Titans. Wimbley played in all 16 games of the 2012 season, finishing with 30 tackles and six sacks. 

After playing for nine seasons, Wimbley announced his retirement from the NFL on May 7, 2015.
